Oreo Balls

My dentist told me about these bad boys when she was filling my latest cavity (irony? I think so) and they sounded so disgustingly good I decided to find them on the Internet. And found them I did at Recipezaar.com.

Oreo Balls
  • 1 package regular size Oreo cookies, crushed
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 package white almond bark
  • 1 package chocolate almond bark

Directions

  1. Using a blender or hand held mixer, mix Oreos and cream cheese together. (I used my food processor. Trust me. Dust it off. It works awesomely.)
  2. Roll into walnut size balls.
  3. Chill for an hour.
  4. Melt approximately 3/4 package of white almond bark.
  5. Stick a toothpick in an Oreo ball and dip it in the melted white almond bark. (Did not have toothpick so used skewer from my grill set that I bought last year after Christmas. It worked awesomely.)
  6. Allow to harden on wax paper. This takes about 15 min.
  7. While waiting, melt about 1/4 package of chocolate almond bark.
  8. When Oreo balls are no longer sticky to the touch, decorate with drizzles of chocolate and white almond bark.
  9. I just use a sandwich bag with a tiny hole cut in one corner to drizzle the almond bark. (I accomplished this with a spoon.)
Verdict: These are pretty damn easy to make. I will make them again, I have not, however, tried one because I'm afraid of the addiction it might cause.

Shelley,
I am not kidding. I made these today. I've made them the past few years for Christmas, and as I was making them I thought..."Shelley could put this recipe on her blog, they are easy." Then tonight when I came on here...there they were. :) You were a few steps ahead of me! Aren't they awesome?!?!

Oh my...these even rival the chocolate covered peanut butter balls we had at the cookie party this weekend - peanut butter at least has a tiny bit of protein :)

Regan - these are soooo good and sooo easy. I think they'll be making an appearance at every Christmas. :)

And Paul - nothing rivals chocolate covered peanut butter balls. I think those are the bomb!

Ok, these also tasted great! I'm not sure what the consistancy of the actual oreo/cream cheese was suppose to look like. I let me childcare kids take a hammer to a bag of oreos and ended up with powder:) So the inside of my balls looked like raw cake batter, but they were sure yummy! We even did a batch using peanut butter oreos! I bet the mint would taste good also. Have you tried using the generic sandwich cookies? I thought about it but ended up chickening out. I also ran short of almond bark so I melted chocolate chips and this worked well and gave the balls a shinier appearance.

These are awesome, Shelley! I've made them for a few years...usually around Halloween so I can make them look like bloodshot eyeballs. So fun! I am loving your food blog!
